  One of the best German restaurants I have eaten at in BC and AB. The atmosphere reminds me of going to your aunt or your grandmothers house for dinner. I had Bavarian bratwurst with a side of mashed potatoes red cabbage and sauerkraut and carrots. I left satisfied. The service was friendly and fair. The building is an older hotel so don't expect five star decor but it stands out with the food. If you are in Castlegar it is definitely worth putting on the shortlist for good restaurants.

  Heard it was good European food but I have been staring at its darkened windows and locked doors all winter now - perhaps they only open in summer? No stars for you! You have to be open to play this game.

  Wunderbar... There is nothing I like more that German food. When I was looking at going to Castlegar I found the Chameleon. I had read one review, and it was the owners response to the review that made me want to drive 250km for dinner. I didn't even look at the menu, I just asked for a nice German meal and a beer. I got spaetzle, schnitzel and vegetables with a gravy boat on the side. It was so good I wanted to get another order and eat all night. Definitely some of the best German home cooking I have had. The only way they could have made it better was to come out and yell at me " finish your dinner or no desert" then it would have been just like home.
